SUMMARY: 

As a Snow Removal Operator, you are responsible for safely, efficiently, and thoroughly performing assigned snow removal operations while maintaining a high standard of care for Company equipment and customer property.

The Snow Removal Operator operates and cares for assigned snow removal equipment, performs snow removal services according to established Company procedures and customer requirements, communicates effectively with the Snow Removal Team Leads and team members, and maintains a strong focus on safety, quality, and attention to detail.

The specific equipment, duties, and level of responsibility assigned to each operator may vary based on training, experience, demonstrated skill, equipment authorization, operational needs, and the requirements of each assignment. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Safely and efficiently operate assigned snow removal equipment in accordance with Company procedures, manufacturer instructions, and applicable safety requirements
  • Perform assigned snow removal operations at residential, commercial, roadway, parking, and other customer locations
  • Clear snow from driveways, roads, parking areas, walkways, and other assigned areas
  • Follow established routes, work assignments, snow placement requirements, and customer-specific instructions
  • Maintain awareness of pedestrians, vehicles, structures, landscaping, gates, curbs, retaining walls, pavement, and other property features
  • Inspect assigned equipment before, during, and after use
  • Report equipment damage, mechanical issues, maintenance needs, or unsafe conditions promptly
  • Follow all Company safety policies, procedures, and training requirements
  • Maintain a positive, professional, and team-oriented attitude

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Valid Driver’s License and acceptable driving record
  • Previous experience operating snow removal equipment, heavy equipment, commercial vehicles, or similar equipment is preferred but not required, depending on the position and equipment assigned
  • Ability to safely operate equipment for which the employee has been properly trained and authorized
  • Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions
  • Team player who is able to communicate and work well with others
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work outdoors in winter weather conditions
  • Ability to work safely around moving vehicles, equipment, pedestrians, structures, and other hazards
  • Ability to occasionally work in a high-stress, fast-paced environment
  • Must consider safety, courtesy, and care for customer property high priorities
  • Ability to recognize and communicate unsafe conditions, equipment concerns, property concerns, or other issues to a supervisor
  • Willingness to work as part of a team and assist with related snow removal tasks as needed

Physical Requirements:  

  • Sit for extended periods while operating vehicles or equipment
  • Stand and walk while inspecting equipment and performing assigned duties
  • Use hands and arms to operate equipment controls and perform equipment-related tasks
  • Reach, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb, or balance as required to safely perform assigned duties
  • Lift, carry, push, or pull materials, tools, or equipment as required by assigned duties
  • Safely enter and exit vehicles and equipment
  • Work on snow, ice, uneven surfaces, and other winter conditions
  • Maintain sufficient coordination, awareness, and attention to safely operate assigned equipment

WORK ENVIRONMENT: 

The majority of work is performed outdoors and may include exposure to:

  • Snow, ice, rain, wind, and other winter weather conditions
  • Cold temperatures
  • Slippery, uneven, or unstable surfaces
  • Moving vehicles and mechanical equipment
  • Engine exhaust, dust, dirt, and airborne particles
  • Loud equipment and machinery
  • Equipment vibration
  • Residential, commercial, roadway, parking, and other customer properties
  • Low-light or nighttime conditions

WORK HOURS

Snow removal operations are dependent upon weather conditions, snowfall, customer needs, and operational requirements.

This position may be scheduled to work early morning, overnight, evening, weekend, or holiday hours when snow removal operations require it.

As a retainer position, the employee may be contacted and scheduled for snow removal work based on operational needs, weather conditions, snowfall, customer requirements, and assigned routes or locations.

COMPENSATION 

This is a seasonal retainer position from October 15 through April 30. The seasonal retainer is starting at (depending on experience) $1,178.57 per biweekly pay period during the Snow Removal season, paid according to the Company's regular biweekly payroll schedule and subject to applicable payroll deductions.
